MATCH REPORT
17 February 2007
Essex Olympian Football League
Reserve Division One
Epping 3 v 1 Ryan
A heavy pitch and difficult
conditions made this more of a match than it should have been. Player for player
the home side were far superior but a relaxed attitude from one side and a
steely determination from the other evened the match up. It was the visitors who
took the lead just before half time and, but for a great save from Kev Christou
they would have gone in at half time two up. The second half was a different
story it was constant Epping pressure but without a finished product. The
introduction of Danny Turpin for the injured Bailey livened the side up and two
successive attacks were rewarded with penalties. The first a push on the nimble
Nick Dainton and the second a trip on Pete Beaumont. This week Tony Whiteway
converted both.
The third was a spectacular free kick from James Kelly from 20 yards out
straight into the back of the net. A good win but harder than it should have
been.
Team: Christou, Robinson, Seymour, Dainton, Webster, Scriven, Mavin, Whiteway,
Beaumont, Bailey, Kelly,
